00:00 Genesis 11: 1-9 the towel of beel now the whole world had one
00:07 language and a common speech as people moved Eastward they found a plane in
00:12 shinar and settled there they said to each other come let's
00:18 make bricks and bake them thoroughly they used a brick instead of stone and tar for
00:24 Mortal then they said come let us build ourselves a city with a tower that
00:29 reaches to the heavens so that we may make a name for ourselves otherwise we
00:35 will be scattered over the face of the whole Earth but the Lord came down to see the
00:41 city and the tower the people were building the Lord said if as one people
00:47 speaking the same language they have begun to do this then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for
00:55 them come let us go down and confuse their language so they will not
00:60 understand understand each other so the Lord scattered them from there over all the Earth and they
01:07 stopped building the city that is why it was called Babel
01:12 because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world from there the Lord scattered them
01:19 over the face of the whole earth this is the word of
01:26 God good morning church how are we all I hope you all are good good I hope you all are safe and healthy and abiding by
01:33 the the MCO um I'm I'm really excited that today is the Lord's day I'm excited
01:39 to be able to preach through Genesis 11 today um I've been preparing for for
01:44 this sermon for some time and it's great to finally be able to record it I've got the got the lights out I got the
01:51 bookshelf background to make you think that I'm smart and I've read all these books um but yeah today is a good day
01:58 and uh I'm excited I'm exced decided to dive into the text um the account of the Tower of
02:04 Babel is uh is quite short it's nine verses long uh as compared to the the
02:10 account of the flood the account of the flood is four whole chapters so in these
02:15 nine verses uh there's going to be blanks in our understanding uh we're
02:20 going to have to read in between the lines we're going to have to assume some things conjecture and pull from
02:26 different parts of the Bible to get a fuller understanding so for now let's let's uh try understand the story that
02:33 we've been going through right up to Genesis chap 10 and then we'll jump into
02:39 11 so Genesis 1 in the beginning God creates the heavens and the Earth right
02:45 it's a it's a the whole universe is created in in seven days paying particular attention to when God creates
02:52 Mankind and they are created in God's image the only create the only creation
02:58 that's created in image of of God Genesis 2 we have the very first love story in history right uh God said to
03:06 Adam it is not good for a man to be alone and so he creates Eve out of his rib uh as his helper and his life
03:14 partner Genesis 3 the fall Satan comes in the form of a serpent he deceives
03:19 Adam and Eve and they are they eat of the fruit of the Forbidden tree and so they are cursed and they banished from
03:26 the garden Genesis 4 Cain and Abel the first murder in history showing the
03:32 darkness of the human heart where Cain murders his brother Abel out of jealousy
03:37 Genesis 5 a passage that uh is quite key it lists out the the genealogy and the
03:43 ages all the way from Adam to Noah and from this genealogy from these uh from
03:49 these ages that are given in this chapter and also in the second half of Genesis 11 we're able to come up with a
03:55 timeline of events Genesis 6 to seven is the account
04:01 of the great flood God's judgment over the world yet one family is saved Noah
04:06 his wife his three sons and their wives so eight people in total are saved on The Ark and two of every kind of
04:14 animal Genesis 8 and9 the the waters subside they come out of the Ark and there's that iconic verse in Genesis 9:1
04:22 where God says uh be fruitful and fill the Earth Genesis 10 gives us a a genealogy
04:31 of Noah's sons Shem hem and Jeff and so finally today we get to chapter 11 uh
04:38 before we jump in let's uh let's say a quick prayer heavenly father thank you Lord for for this new day father God
04:44 thank you for your word thank you for the wisdom that we can we can glean from your word father God I pray um that this
04:52 text would uh would change our lives I pray that the truths in this text would
04:58 be made alive to us today reveal yourself to us Lord I pray in Jesus name
05:04 amen all right so
05:09 Genesis 11 uh we're going to start off with Section 1 to 4 first okay so that
05:15 two very clear clear sections in this chapter 1 to 4 and then 5 to9 right 1: 4
05:21 is from the perspective of man it says uh they found a plane in ch they said to
05:27 each other let us make bricks they use bricks and so on and so forth right so that that first part is from the perspective
05:34 of man and then it shifts to the perspective of God right in verse 5 it says but the Lord came down the Lord
05:42 said let us go down the Lord scattered them and so on and so forth so it's two
05:47 very very clear uh units in in this chapter right so let's let's jump all
05:54 the way to verse four then they said come let us build ourselves a city with
05:60 a tower that reaches to the heavens so that we may make a name for ourselves otherwise we will be scattered over the
06:06 face of the whole earth they wanted to build a city if not they would be
06:12 scattered over the whole earth they wanted to build a city so they would be United they would be strong they would
06:19 be protected right and in those conditions they could flourish they could Prosper they could be wealthy they
06:25 could live comfortably and happily and peacefully all good things
06:31 except that God said be fruitful and fill the Earth that's the only problem
06:38 God did not want them to Clump together he wanted them to spread out and fill
06:44 the Earth right and uh it's not that God did not want them to be United and
06:49 strong and live in peace and and be be prosperous and flourish no uh that God's
06:56 sentiment when he gave them the command in Genesis 9:1 was not that they would go out be spread out thin uh be be be
07:03 Scavenging for food and and really scrawny sleeping on rocks being attacked by wild animals right obviously that's
07:10 not the case that's not what God had in mind when he gave the command in Genesis
07:17 91 no the the the command was given so that they could experience all that the
07:23 Earth had to offer all that God had created for them it was so that they could experience Mountain rings es Beach
07:31 sides lakes and forests it was so they could enjoy summer spring autumn
07:37 winter so that they could discover new materials and come up with new designs for living and transportation it's so
07:44 that they could Advance technology it's so that they could discover new flavors new tastes and come up with new recipes
07:51 and Delicacies we have to remember that God's commands are never bad just like a
07:58 good father would never ask his 5-year-old son to pick up a poisonous snake one good father would ever do that
08:04 no good father would do that and so in the same way God never gives us a bad
08:11 command they are always for our good they're always for our blessing they're
08:17 always for our well-being they're never to hurt us never to harm us they're always to build our character to make us
08:24 more like Christ and to bring God more Glory the people people wanted to
08:30 flourish but they had no faith that they would if they did what God asked them to
08:36 do they had no faith that God wanted what was best for them and so they took their well-being into their own hands
08:44 now I think it goes further than just wanting to be safe okay so let's explore
08:49 this a little um look at the end of verse four carefully verse four right at
08:55 the end otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole
09:02 earth that sounds eerily familiar with Genesis 9:1 doesn't it be fruitful and
09:09 fill all the Earth and here it says if not we will be scattered over the face
09:14 of the whole earth they are taking a command of God a good righteous holy
09:22 command and twisting it into something negative right they're doing exactly
09:27 what Satan did in the garden right when he came as a serpent he told Eve he asked Eve did God really say you should
09:36 not eat of this fruit actually you should it's a good thing you should eat this fruit you would have the knowledge
09:41 of Good and Evil you will become like the gods right God doesn't want you to eat it because he wants to be the only
09:48 God right he doesn't want you to eat it because he wants to be set apart from you um and so so Satan takes a good holy
09:58 command that was meant for the blessing of Adam and Eve and he twists it into
10:03 something negative making God out to be evil so they are not just seeking their
10:11 well-being they're seeking their independence from God they wanted
10:17 autonomy they wanted to make their own rules they wanted to have their own moral standard they did not want to have
10:24 to submit to God's laws and be subject to God's judgment if they disobeyed
10:30 those laws this is not just an act of
10:36 self-preservation it's an act of rebellion they wanted a city they wanted
10:42 a tower but God gave them languages the city stands for their lack of faith and
10:47 the goodness of God and their Rebellion against sovereignty of
10:54 God the second thing they wanted to do was to build a tower to make a name for
10:60 themselves right now there few there are few theories about this Tower uh one of the theories was that they wanted to
11:05 build the Tower to reach to the heavens so that they could go to the heavens uh and dwell there another theory is they
11:12 built it so that it would appease God and entice him to come down so it would act as as a large tall Temple the third
11:20 theory is that they built the Tower so that if God would ever make a worldwide flood happen again they would have safe
11:28 haven from God's judgment now whatever Theory you you most comfortable with all these scholars
11:33 believe that the intent of the tower was to make a name for themselves because
11:39 it's very clear in the text that's what it says so whatever the purpose of the tower was the intent Remains the Same to
11:45 make a name for themselves so if you believe Theory number one that they were building the tower so that they could be
11:51 in heaven they could go to heaven it's so that people would look at them and see them as Heavenly being and thus
11:57 making a name for themselves if you believe that the tower was to appease God to come down to bless the people it
12:04 was so people would see oh look look at the blessings that God has bestowed on this people they must be a great people
12:11 wow and therefore making a name for themselves if you believe that it was built for Safe Haven in case God would
12:18 flood the whole earth well number one they're not listening because God said I will never flood the whole earth like
12:25 this again um and number two they wanted to build it so that they could run up
12:30 and then people would beg please please let us into the tower and they would be seen as the saviors of the world and
12:37 thus making a name for
12:42 themselves do you see ourselves in them right it's it's it's very similar to The
12:49 Way We Act Right how how much of our day is spent making a name for ourselves how
12:57 much of our day is BU building our own kingdom seeking our own Glory caring and
13:04 being worried about our reputation what others think of
13:10 us the Bible is very clear about this God hates pride and arrogance the Bible
13:18 is full of stories of God humbling prideful man in Exodus Pharaoh refused
13:24 to let God's people go he wanted to stamp his authority on God's people and
13:31 have them stay as slaves and so what did God do he hit them he hit the Egyptians
13:36 with 10 plagues and he wiped out their entire Army into the Red Sea Exodus 14:4
13:43 says this and I will harden Pharaoh's heart and he will pursue them but I will
13:48 gain glory for myself through pharaoh and all his Army and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord so the
13:54 Israelites did this in Daniel 4 Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon
13:60 becomes proud and he attributes his success to himself right Daniel 4:30
14:05 says this is not this the great Babylon I have built as the Royal residence by
14:11 my mighty power and for the glory of my Majesty can you believe those words came
14:17 out of Nebuchadnezzar's mouth and as soon as they did God humbled him by turning him into an animal he crouched
14:24 over he grew feathers he grew Claws and he ate grass for seven years years until
14:30 God restored him to becoming a man again it's kind of like the story of Beauty and the Beast except it's not done by
14:36 Disney it was for real this actually happened it took God seven years to
14:41 Humble the man Nebuchadnezzar in the Book of Job job is
14:47 Afflicted with suffering and he demands an answer from God he's waving his fist at God God I did nothing wrong I I've
14:54 not sinned vindicate me tell me what I did wrong he's waving his fist at God he's asking for an answer so him and his
15:01 friends bounce back and forth for 37 chapters and God finally answers in
15:06 chapter 38 God says this chapter 38:
15:13 2-3 who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge brace
15:19 yourself like a man I will question you and you shall answer me when God speaks
15:24 out of a storm and he says brace yourself like a man you better get your help on you better get your knee pads on
15:31 right because it's going to be a rough ride and so God hits job with question
15:36 after question after question after question making job feel smaller and smaller and smaller he says where were
15:43 you when I laid the foundations of the Earth have you traveled to the recesses of the sea have you hooked the sea
15:50 monster have you tamed the sea monster do do you feed the Lions do you help the
15:55 mountain goats to give birth does the hawk fly by your wisdom question after
16:01 question after question and finally after four chapters of God asking job
16:08 questions by the way God never answers job he never tells him why he suffered
16:14 but after all that questioning finally in chapter um
16:19 42 job says surely I spoke of things I did not understand things too wonderful
16:25 for me to know therefore I despise myself and repent in death and
16:31 Ashes job didn't need an answer he just needed to know that God Almighty was
16:38 Sovereign it took four chapters to Humble the man job Proverbs 16:18 Pride
16:45 goes Before Destruction a Hy spirit before the fall Isaiah 48:11 for my own
16:50 sake for my own sake I do this how can I let myself be defamed I will not yield
16:57 my glory to another one Peter 55-6 all of you clothe yourselves with humility
17:03 toward one another because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble humble yourselves therefore under God's
17:10 Mighty hand that he may lift you up in due time God is a jealous God who does
17:15 not share his glory and he hates the pride and arrogance of
17:22 man there is nothing wrong with the people wanting to build a tower what was
17:28 wrong was their intent they wanted a city they wanted a
17:34 tower but God gave them languages the tower stands for the shift from being
17:40 God focused god- centered and God glorifying to being self focused
17:46 self-centered and self- glorifying and now we get to the second part of the the chapter verse 5 but the
17:54 Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building now this is is the irony this Tower is supposed
18:00 to reach to the heavens and yet it's so teeny tiny it's so small God can't even
18:06 see it from the heavens he has to come down to see it now I know what you might be thinking Sam come on God's everywhere
18:12 he sees all things at all times uh I understand and I agree but try and see
18:18 what the author is trying to convey here in this in this verse he's trying to compare the The
18:26 Works of man to the mag magnificence of God and anything compared to the
18:32 magnificence of God is nothing it's nothing right have you seen those that V
18:39 video illustration of the universe right where you see the Earth and it's spinning and it's about how many came by
18:45 how many km and then it zooms out to maybe Saturn right and now the Earth is
18:50 a is a small circle on the screen and it's spinning and it's spinning and then it zooms out to Jupiter and by this time
18:57 the Earth is less than a ping pong ball and then it zooms out to the Sun and now
19:02 Jupiter is small and the Earth is like a DOT on the screen and then it zooms out
19:08 to the Milky Way and by this time you can't even see the Earth and then it zooms out to another bigger Galaxy and
19:16 the Milky Way looks like a ping pong b pingpong ball and so on and so on and so
19:21 on there are millions of galaxies in the universe and trillions of stars what's
19:29 amazing is not what man has done what's amazing is that God even knows we're here what's amazing is that God cares
19:38 for every single one of us deeply that's what's amazing and that's why the sin of
19:44 pride and arrogance is is so distasteful so disgusting in the mouth of
19:51 God we are terribly mistaken to think of ourselves as anything compared to who
19:57 God is or what he is done verse
20:02 6 the Lord said if as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this then nothing they plan
20:09 to do will be impossible for them now this verse is a key verse and it confused me for some time because we
20:16 just talked about how God is Almighty Sovereign the creator of the universe
20:21 and yet here in verse 6 it seems like he's cowering away doesn't it like he he
20:27 he's scared and he's in a corner crying right if these people United in the same language or they can do this they can
20:34 build This Magnificent Tower in This Magnificent City nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them I will never
20:40 be able to Humble them I will never be able to to demand their
20:46 worship but uh that can't that can't be the interpretation of this verse right
20:53 because that's not who God is as as we know any Bible believing Christian knows
20:59 and so I had to research this I to find out what on Earth does this verse mean and now I finally understand what it
21:05 means uh let let me let me paraphrase it for you so that you can get the meaning of it so this is verse six in the nisv
21:12 the new international Sam version verse six if this people of one
21:19 language and United in their cause to disobey me for the sake of Fame power
21:24 and wealth no sin will be Beyond them remember they wanted to build the City
21:29 to be strong United prosperous right and they wanted to build a tower for fame
21:35 they wanted to make a name for themselves so if this people of one language and United in their cause to
21:41 disobey me for the sake of Fame power and wealth no sin will be Beyond them that's what verse 6 is saying think for
21:48 a second if God had let them be the increasing Pride would lead them to
21:55 corruption and Hunger for More it would lead them to trample on the week to get what they desired it would lead them to
22:02 be further independent of God and it would lead them to live according to their own moral
22:09 standards they wanted to live on their own terms play by their own rules make
22:15 up their own laws live by their own moral standards they wanted to be an
22:20 autonomous secular Godless nation and so try to picture for
22:26 yourself what would have happened if God let them go go down this path eventually 50 years down the line 100 years 200
22:33 years Pride would turn into rivalry Unity would turn into Strife strength
22:40 would turn into violence and prosperity would turn into greed and so God confusing their
22:47 language was an act of mercy of God to stop them to stop them from becoming the
22:54 monster they were turning into and we are experiencing ing this blessing of God's mercy even till today
23:03 imagine if you would for a second that God did not give them languages we would be one Global Nation there wouldn't be
23:11 many many different nations we would be one Global nation and I know what you might be thinking that's Sam that's
23:18 great that sounds great right I I would never have to apply for
23:23 another Visa I would I hated language classes back at school I'd be able to speak to every one on earth and you're
23:31 right there are some great points there but think about this right now even the
23:37 most powerful people on Earth national leaders their policies their laws their
23:43 reformations only go as far as their borders allow and no
23:49 further that's that's their jurisdiction they can't reach further than their borders and knowing what you know about
23:56 man's sinful nature and knowing what you know about history you can see how this is an act of mercy
24:02 of God right Hitler is the standard example the German dictator in the
24:08 1940s had 17 million people killed 17
24:13 million people 6 million of which were Jews killed simply because of their race
24:20 they were systematically hauled to concentration camps forced to work until they could work no more and then thrown
24:27 into the gas Chambers Stalin the Russian dictator also in the
24:32 1940s his laws and his policies caused a famine that killed 20
24:39 million people along with executions concentration camps so on and so forth
24:47 mounton the Chinese dictator in the 1960s and70s same thing his laws and
24:52 policies caused a nationwide famine that killed 78 million people
24:59 78 million people some lesser known names Matsui and tanisa Japanese
25:05 Generals in 1937 when the when the Japanese invaded China when when this
25:11 this team invaded n King they had 300,000 people killed and
25:18 tortured 20,000 women raped today they call the Invasion the rape of Nan
25:25 King Yamin is known as The Butcher of Uganda in the the 1970s he had 300,000
25:31 people killed and tortured closer to home Paul po the
25:36 Cambodian dictator along with the CH Rouge in the 1970s killed 3 million
25:42 cambodians at the time it was a third of their population a third of their
25:48 population wiped out theonest Bora the Rwanda military
25:54 General in 1994 in the span of a 100 days had 1 million people killed and up
26:00 to 500,000 women raped most of them were killed by
26:10 machetes doesn't matter how far back you go right go back to Biblical times
26:15 Pharaoh ordered that every Jewish male baby should be thrown into the River Nile because he wanted to keep the Jews
26:23 under his thumb he wanted to keep them as slaves and did not want them to grow to be too strong
26:30 King Herod in when he found out that there was a king born in Bethlehem he ordered that every male baby under the
26:37 year under two years of age should be killed can you imagine the
26:42 outcry see what happens when mankind is unrestrained and while we're on the
26:48 topic of killing babies abortion takes the lives of 50 million babies every
26:55 year 50 million now while this I need to say about abortion and the debate rages
27:01 on even today I'm going to do my best to stick to how it relates to this passage
27:07 okay 67 out of 195 countries in the world today you can get an abortion
27:14 simply based on requests there's a gation period of about 12 to 24 weeks on
27:19 average so as long as the baby in your womb is under 12 weeks you can get him
27:27 or her aborted simply by requesting no other consideration if you want it you can get
27:34 it in 67 out of 195 countries in the world today by law you can get that baby
27:44 aborted now imagine imagine the people who came up with these policies these laws these
27:52 reformations gave these orders imagine if they were the leaders
27:57 of a global Nation no sin no loss of life no
28:03 atrocity no Bloodshed would be impossible for
28:08 mankind that is what verse 6 is all about that is what verse 6 is saying and
28:15 now that we understand verse 6 verses 7 to9 are easy to understand
28:21 come let us go down and confuse their language so that they will not understand each other so the Lord scattered them from there all over all
28:29 the Earth and they stopped building the city that is why it was called Babel because there the Lord confused the
28:35 language of the whole world from there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole
28:41 earth in the mercy of God he gives them languages knowing that it would confuse
28:48 them knowing that it would stop them from building the city and the tower knowing that families would spread they
28:53 would fill the Earth and fulfill his will but also that they would have their own land
28:59 have their own borders build their own Nations have their own culture and thus
29:04 the sin of man is now restrained they wanted a city they
29:11 wanted a tower but God gave them languages languages stands for God's mercy in limiting Mankind's capacity to
29:19 sin and blessing her with all that the Earth has to
29:25 offer now I'd like to take this concept of languages a little bit further right it doesn't
29:30 seem to me that the only reason languages was given to given to man was
29:36 was to restrain their sin that that doesn't seem to me like the only reason
29:42 because God easily he could have snapped his finger and and the the walls of the city would come crumbling down the tower
29:48 would have crumbled down and he could have spread the people himself right God is fully capable of doing that um so so
29:57 I think there's more to it than that about this issue of uh languages so take
30:02 a look at these verses Revelation 79 to10 now this is a good one to to
30:08 actually look up so if you have your Bibles with you please take them out uh and turn to Revelation 7:9-10 uh
30:14 bookmark it highlighted this is a good verse to have Revelation 7: 9 to 10 after this I
30:25 looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count from
30:32 every nation tribe people and language standing Before the Throne and before
30:37 the lamb they were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands and they cried out in a loud voice
30:44 salvation Belongs To Our God who sits on the throne and unto the
30:50 lamb John has a vision and in this Vision he sees a countless multitude of
30:57 people from every tribe Nation people and
31:04 language Matthew 28: 19 therefore go and make disciples of all Nations you know
31:10 the verse yeah acts: 18 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be my Witnesses in
31:16 Jerusalem and in Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the Earth what do these
31:23 verses tell you about the heart of God for the
31:28 Nations he is a God who loves the nations are you getting that he's a God
31:34 who cares for people of every color every tribe every language Every Nation
31:40 to the ends of the Earth he tells his disciples to go to bring his go his
31:46 gospel message there to them look at Revelations 79
31:56 again people from every nation tribe
32:02 language if if languages was was just a curse from God right to to to to
32:08 restrain man's sin I think I think that in heaven God would turn it back God
32:15 would turn it back so that we would just have one language in heaven but based on Revelation 7 he doesn't do that the
32:22 languages Remain the way I think about it is like this God is to too magnificent God is
32:30 too Majestic God is too glorious to be worshiped in just one
32:37 language right from based on what I researched there about 6,500 languages in the world today and in heaven all
32:46 those languages are going to be represented and they're going to be worshiping God saying salvation Belongs
32:52 To Our God who sits on the throne and to the lamb that is John vision of
33:00 heaven so don't be ashamed of your race your nationality your language right
33:05 because your race glorifies God your skin color glorifies God your language
33:11 glorifies God all that you are what makes you you your identity what makes
33:16 you different from everyone else when directed towards the worship of God
33:22 glorifies him immensely they wanted a city they wanted
33:28 a tower but God gave them languages languages does not only stand for God's
33:34 mercy no it stands for God's glory who you are your race your nationality your
33:40 skin color your language brings glory to
33:50 God and so how do we apply this to our lives how can we take this new head
33:56 knowledge that we've now gained and convert it into action well let's take
34:02 it one at a time okay the city stands for our lack of faith and our mistrust
34:08 in a good God God has always been good he has always been faithful he has
34:14 fulfilled every good promise he has given us every single one and yet we are
34:21 the ones who are faithless we are the ones who are sinful we are the ones who turn away from God
34:29 God is worthy of our faith God is worthy of our trust and when we
34:35 don't we need to
34:43 repent the tower stands for our pride living for our Glory building our
34:50 kingdom being so consumed about me me me me me wanting glory for me wanting
34:56 people to know me build building my reputation lifting my name on
35:01 high instead of directing all of that to the Living
35:06 God and for that we need to Humble ourselves and we need to
35:12 repent languages stands for God's Gift of tremendous Mercy in restraining our
35:20 capacity to sin think about it this way the only difference really the only difference
35:26 between me and Hitler is the restraining hand of God if God were to make a
35:33 mistake right if God were to let me go if God were to fall asleep one day if
35:39 God were to slip up and leave me unrestrained there is enough darkness in
35:45 my heart to turn into Hitler overnight there is there really is right now I
35:51 don't have the same in I don't have the same pow as H right so I wouldn't be able to kill millions of people no but
35:59 everyone in my sphere of influence would be living in hell it would be a living
36:05 hell having known me living with me being friends with me being my parents
36:11 if God left me unrestrained but praise be to God that
36:17 he who began a good work in me will bring it to completion and he will do the same for you Philippians 1:6 God
36:25 does not slip up God does not make mistakes he who began a good work in us
36:33 will bring us bring it to
36:38 completion God is a faithful
36:44 God languages also stands for God's heart for the Nations do we share the
36:51 same conviction as God do we reach out to the Nations do we
36:56 give right do we uh do we love the nations are we going with the gospel
37:01 message to the ends of the Earth do we care because God does God does and he's
37:07 made that abundantly clear living here in KL we don't even have to go we don't
37:14 even have to travel to reach the Nations the Nations come to us right we KL is
37:21 the Hub of Southeast Asia there are people traveling from all over the world
37:27 to K for work for living for for study for leisure
37:33 tourism we just have to go out to meet them not now of course but but you know what I'm saying the Nations come to us
37:41 how are we leveraging our position as being Malaysians to reach the ends of the
37:49 Earth we are in a unique and privileged position to be Malaysians who live in ch
37:55 how are we leveraging that do we share in the conviction of the Moravian Christians who cried out May
38:02 the lamb who was slain receive the reward for his suffering do we share in that conviction because if we do the
38:09 reward for his suffering is people from every tribe tongue and
38:16 Nation this year at FBC missions is our theme missions how are we being obedient
38:23 to that call are we reaching out are are we feeding the poor are we giving to the
38:29 needy are we taking care of widows and orphans are we visiting uh people in old
38:35 folks home are we visiting prisoners are we clothing the naked what
38:42 are we doing in this year of missions this is song by by Casting Crowns that I
38:47 really like it's called if we are the body and the chorus goes like this if we are the body why aren't his hands
38:53 reaching why aren't his arms reaching sorry why aren't his hands healing why aren't his words teaching and if we
39:00 are the body why aren't his feet going why is his love not showing them there is a
39:06 way we are the body of Christ and in this year in particular it should be
39:12 every year yes but in this year in particular here at BC how are we being missional how are we
39:21 reaching out how are we leveraging our talents our gifts our time our money for
39:28 the kingdom of God to reach people to the ends of the Earth with the gospel
39:33 message how are we leveraging what we have to make disciples of all
39:40 Nations pray to God for that conviction if you don't have it if you if it's not in your heart that's okay right that's
39:48 normal if you're if I'm honest with myself right I I don't live in the in
39:53 the reality where I'm I'm always thinking about the Nations I'm always thinking about the end of the year Earth and unsaved people now I'm not going to
40:00 lie so if if that's you as well pray for that conviction pray to God how use me
40:07 God how can you use me how can I leverage what I have for your kingdom
40:13 how can I leverage my gifts my talents my time for you to reach the nations
40:19 with the gospel message to make disciples to give to the needy to help the sick to feed the
40:26 hungry what can I do use me Lord as your
40:31 vessel and until God reveals something specific to you give yeah give that's something that
40:39 we can all do you don't need to hear the voice of God I want you to give no he's already spoken that in his word until he
40:46 speaks something specific to you give give to people who are already
40:52 fulfilling this mission who are taking the gospel message to the ends of the
40:58 Earth give to them support them financially pray for
41:03 them we wanted a city we wanted a
41:09 tower but God gave us languages let's
41:16 pray heavenly father I want to I want to thank you God that you are good that you are
41:22 faithful and God we are disobedient we are faithless we are sinful
41:28 we repent Lord and we ask for your forgiveness Lord God I pray that you
41:33 humble us I pray that FBC will be known as a generous church that we as the body
41:40 of Christ would be generous to give will be generous to go and God use us Lord in
41:47 this time leverage our skills our talents our position our time our money God our
41:55 nationality as Malaysians living here in the hub of Southeast Asia use us Lord to
42:01 reach the Nations for you so that the Lamb of God may receive the reward for
42:07 his suffering I pray this in Jesus name amen

46:42 King even as we close I believe the Lord has spoke to you I believe he's told you
46:49 that he has a mission to save the world and in his mission we're given the privilege to participate as his people
46:58 are you ready to give because I believe this mission that he has for this church
47:05 to participate in giving this way is not something that happened by accident it's a calling that we must fulfill because
47:13 this is what Jesus would do if he was here so do not give because we are
47:20 asking you to but give because you know that this is what God is speaking to you right now and if you feel God's calling
47:27 I I I pray that you prepare yourselves to give even as we pray father we thank
47:33 you for giving us your only son thank you Lord through the message right the way all the way in the beginning in
47:38 Genesis you have reminded us over and over again that you are here with a
47:44 mission to save us and Lord we pray Lord that we through our giving would bring
47:50 Salvation to someone else thank you for this privilege we thank you for giving us this Mission and we pray all this in
