The Joy of Gospel Partnership

I met Pastor Mark in September 2016. After just one meal and a conversation, he immediately welcomed me to consider FBC (E) for a fresh start. He said that the church was always eager to welcome new partnerships as there is plenty of gospel work to be done.

That statement gave me the impression that FBC (E) was a church that was constantly preaching the gospel to the lost and discipling new converts towards maturity in Christ. More than 3 years have passed, and I can proudly say that’s exactly what I’ve seen in FBC(E). There are many people in our church who consistently give their time and talent for gospel ministry.

I saw it first in the elders. I see how Elder Richard would greet people by name before and after the service, and Dr Peter engaging individuals in the garden café. Our recent elders Arnold and Yee Dian have also continued to exemplify that work ethics and love for people. Uncle Phie Loong, Lai Si Meng, and Desmond Chu have been consistently doing great work through Alpha and Beta – there are many of us who are in Christ as a direct result of their labour.

I think about our Boys Brigade company, BB2SJ and how Captain Michael and Sir Vincent and the many officers and volunteers are constantly engaging young minds with the bible. I remember Aunty Corinne ,Stephanie and Maureen reaching the community through cooking. The work of Jim Looi in creating a supportive community through the Special Teens Ministry is a true inspiration. And then there’s Makarios Home, caring for the least privileged among us. Special mention to Malcolm Anderson, John Goh, Michelle Ee and others like them – who tirelessly work behind the scenes making amazing things happen. The sight and memory of these people and their gospel work are life-giving to me. I feel extremely honoured to work alongside them.

To serve as Youth Pastor for the past 3 years, I feel immensely grateful. We have so many wonderful servants of God in the youth ministry! The youth teachers, the committee, and the youths themselves have responded resoundly well to the call of service. Our Campus Ministry started 2018 as a result of young adults desiring to disciple the next generation – recalling that fact genuinely encourages me. I also have to thank the children ministry for their good work beforehand, and of course Pastor Mark, for the foundation he laid. By God’s grace, the youth ministry is thriving. I personally look forward to our persevering gospel partnership in FBC (E).
