Eulogy for Chee Seong

Chee Seong was a woman of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and deep compassion. Many of
us knew her as a faithful member of our church family—a constant presence every Sunday,
always elegantly dressed in one of her many beautiful cheongsams, thoughtfully paired with
matching accessories. Her sense of style was not just about appearance, but a reflection of the
care and dignity with which she approached life.

Though she lived simply and was frugal with her own needs, Chee Seong had a remarkably
generous heart. She gave freely to church ministries and mission work, always finding joy in
supporting the Lord’s work. Her giving was never boastful—it came from a sincere love for
God and people.

God gifted her with the ability to teach, and she faithfully served by leading our First
Believer Class every Sunday. Through her wisdom and understanding of Scripture, she
guided many new believers in their spiritual journey. She may not have been the most
expressive with words or actions, but her presence was steady, comforting, and full of grace.
And when she prayed—her words were powerful, filled with deep faith and divine insight.
Chee Seong’s faith was perhaps most visible during the most difficult seasons of her life. In
2018, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a painful and trying time, and yet, even as
her smile began to fade from the physical strain of treatment, she continued to
serve—preparing meals for her family and attending church as often as she could.

Even when she lost her hair—a deeply emotional experience for any woman—she carried
herself with dignity, finding the perfect wig and still showing up each Sunday, dressed and
ready to worship.

In 2020, it was found she has cancer in her gall bladder, and it was another wave of hardship
for her and her family. It was during the time of pandemic which she spent much of her time
in and out of the hospital. The treatments were long, painful, and discouraging—but her faith
never faltered. In fact, she surrendered everything more fully to God. She continued to smile,
to pray, and to show love even while in pain.

Chee Seong’s life was a living testimony of endurance, service, and faithfulness. She leaves
behind a legacy that will live on in her family, her grandchildren, her students, and her
friends.

Though we mourn her passing, we do not grieve as those without hope. We celebrate the life
she lived and the faith she modelled. We rejoice knowing she is now in the presence of the
Lord she loved so dearly—no longer in pain, but resting in eternal peace and glory.
