Just the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9)

Just the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9)

On Sunday, we saw God’s mercy in his punishment against the people of Babylon who built the Tower of Babel to make a name for themselves. The Tower stands for our pride and self-centredness.

God gave us languages, knowing that it will confuse the people of Babylon and stop them from building the Tower; that the people will spread across the earth and fulfil His will, have their own lands and culture, build their own nations; and thus, restrain mankind’s capacity to sin.

In heaven, all languages will be represented and used to glorify God, who loves people of every nation, tribe and language. Likewise, we ought to glorify God instead of living for our own glorify. We ought to love the nations and go with the gospel message to the ends of the earth.⠀
