THE GOSPEL IS THE SAVING TRUTH FOR LOST HUMANITY
We fall out with God rather than seek Him because we are blind and unable to see the beauty and worth of Christ in the Gospel. When the blindness and deadness is wilful, it is entrenched in what we prefer. Lack of exposure to Jesus is another reason to this fixed attitude and not seeking Him. A miracle is needed to save us which 2 Corinthians 4:6 says only God can give by shining into our hearts. Thanks be to God who is able to do this!
It took me 30 years to see the light since the Word was sown in me. I was rooted in Hinduism from the age of four and sowing of the seed came only at the age of 13. I was still blinded because of my strong belief and following in Hinduism. I studied the Word only for my school certificate exam (1965) and not to open my heart for Christ. There was no conviction then and no conformity to the will of God. The Lord’s Prayer and a few scriptural verses remain in memory to date because of the intent study during our school days.
It is when my heart inclined towards Jesus and my faith in Christ blossomed He convicted me. I realised being good and doing good was not enough to get close to God. It exposed me to sin that it is within us, inherited nature of every person ever born and so there is no righteous person.
With the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and having started to read the Bible, I became aware sin manifest in many varieties and it is lodged deep within all of us. We do it naturally too.
I compelled myself to study the gospel and God revealed His character – He is Spirit, infinite, eternal and unchangeable in His being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness and truth. He existed from the beginning and created the heavens and earth with nothing.
He created mankind in his own image and likeness so that we will reflect Him and have a relationship with Him. His ways exposed me to righteousness, being holy, blameless and obeyance to Him.
I gathered salvation is from Him only and this frees sinners from sin’s penalty. The vilest offender who truly believes that moment from Jesus for us by dying for our sins and the cross and was resurrected to free us. He is now correcting us to a new life so we may see glorification.
Like all believers I now wait for the promised day of eternal deliverance.
