Youth Internship Programme
Personal Experience:
To be honest, I was crazy nervous first entering into this internship
program, because it’s something really new to me, and I’m generally not
good with entering new experiences alone. But this was a decision that
I’ve never regretted. I think that this experience has really helped me
grow as a person, through the things I had to do, I gained a lot of
confidence and have learnt a lot. I’ve done things I never thought I
would be able to do, such as giving a sermon or teaching a class for
youth gamma, I’m also a lot more comfortable with my youth family now.
It’s opened up opportunities for me to fellowship with the youths,
which has now really become a second home to me. Being part of the
internship program has also taught me practical lessons, such as
managing my time properly, learning to prioritize certain task and so
on. There were times when things did get busy, but that’s when I really
learn to take a step back and turn back to God. In addition, I think
that this internship program has given me the exposure I needed for my
relationship with God to grow. Being able to learn how to study the
bible, learning how to come up with sermon outlines and being able to
discuss bible passages with the others working in Narnia, it’s really
helped me understand the bible more.
All in all, I think that this internship has really helped me step out
of my comfort zone. I’ve also learnt what it means to be a follower of
Jesus Christ. Applying everything I learnt from the program into my
everyday life. :))
Things I Appreciate
the Most:
Ahhhh! there are so many things that I appreciate so much about this
program, way too many to count. But here are some top items that
definitely needs appreciating.
- The amazing lessons and discussions throughout the week, as well as the people involved in them. Pastor Joash is a great teacher, and has taught me so many things, so has Dickson; who has working in Narnia at that time too. These discussions were kept very interesting and informative, and it really made me think about certain things. It was I would say one of the biggest highlights of this whole program.
- The lunch sessions and random topics of conversation we would have during our free time. This really kept the internship program light and fun.
- Fun projects that I was given. Thank you to Pastor Joash for not giving me any boring paper work, all the work that he delegated were productive, interactive, fun, and individually they really helped me learn a lot. the variety of work that I was given was large, ranging from video work, script writing, to coming up with class material, as well as designing things.
Things I would like
to see Improve:
Maybe the environment? Narnia environment really does have a
comfortable atmosphere to it, but it could be a bit tidier. As well
as bigger, once more youths start interning. Because there were times
when the table didn’t have enough space to put some of the bigger
projects that I had. And things got a bit messy sometimes. Other than
that, I can’t think of anything else that needs to be changed.
Conclusion:
This internship program was probably the highlight of 2018 for me. I
mean, I cannot emphasize how much I have learnt and grown from this
experience. I’ve learnt how to handle different situations, tackle
different obstacles, and I’ve really grown in my faith as well. It’s a
program that really pushes you to be a better person, as cheesy as that
sounds. And it really works well to train up people to serve and become
disciples in the future. Plus, it’s really-really fun and enjoyable
:)). I would honestly recommend and urge other youths to come and join
this program. It really is a life-changing experience.
