SUNDAY SCHOOL
|
Our objective is to equip our kids to be deeply rooted in God's words. Ps.119:105 "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path". Our aim is to convince parents of the need to develop strong spiritual foundation at their child's earliest possible age (as in Toddlers class for ages 1s & 2s) & reinforcing these foundation as the child grows. Our plan is to connect kids to God's word – leading them toward knowing Christ, growing in relationship with Him, accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord & Savior and exercising the act of faith in baptism. Our strategy is to have teachers commit to teach the same class for a 2-year period ie. from std 1 to 2, std 3 to 4. & std 5 to 6. This is to build up friendship for effective reaching-out to kids & their parents. |
Our curriculum we use LifeWay (USA) which offers foundational resources that are biblically sound, age appropriate, fun and easy to use. Our role Teacher as guide – with the bible as our textbook, we will teach biblical principles & foundation. Child as learner – preschoolers, children & preteens are the focus of our teaching & we yearn to touch the head, the heart, & the hands (body) of the child so as to create life-changing experiences. Church as backbone – The church & its ministries exists to support & assist parents as spiritual leaders by training them & teaching their children. Our vision is to transform our children into "spiritual champions", in words & in deeds. |

Family Life Educator, Charis Patrick was at her funny yet educational best – who else could handle such a serious topic
like “Parenting in the Digital Age” and have the audience literally eating out of her hand, that is, by giving away lollipops
for correct answers?
Participants at the parenting workshop on June 16,2012 gleaned a new understanding of their Generation Z kids
(those born 1995 – 2009) and some of their ”code words” (BAIK, COTFLGOHAHA, DUCWIC).
Beyond the laughs though, Charis advocates three good habits to teach today’s digital kids: patience, how to manage
money wisely and build up their AQ (Adversity Quotient – ability to face adversity in life).
Over all this, the guiding principle for parents is to develop relationships with their children: communicate
face-to-face more, go on one-to-one dates, eat together without gadgets, pray together. Charis challenged parents
to try out “the golden hour” once a month or once in three months: disconnect everything in the house -
TV, phones, computers, I Pads, etc.
“When we find fulfillment within the family, the attraction of the Internet will grow strangely dim,” she summed up.

In appreciation of fathers, the Sunday service was led by our Youth & sunday school children. Thereafter served coney hotdogs to all fathers.

This annual event under the Sunday School Ministry is opened to children from Std 1 to Std 6. This year, we had 66 children who were divided into nine teams comprising 7-8 participants from different age groups.
The participants had to answer questions in different format from multiple choices, fill in the blanks, crossword puzzle, matching families of the Bible, etc.
Team 6 was the winner, with Team 5 and 4 as the first and second-runners respectively.
